Loping

Sydney is taking riding lessons at the local equestrian center and is loving it. This week her instructor Kim is teaching her how to do loping. What is loping you ask? Well, it is a western style riding term for a slow relaxed gallop. The horse is moving!! Sometimes also called cantoring. Here are a few pictures of the loping - notice the dust kicked up and the horse's hoofs off the ground.

Kim is giving Sydney instructions on what to do. Sydney has no fear so Kim is diligently trying to make sure Sydney understands how to control Sickle (that is the horse's name).

Yes, this is part of the lesson. We actually pay for Sydney to push poop!

Carly's 6 week checkup

Carly had a 6 week checkup with Dr. Chang today and we are happy to report that she is gaining weight. She has gained almost 3 pounds from her 2 week check and is up to 10 lbs 1 ounce and a height of 21 3/4 inches! We knew she was 'filling out' but we never would have guessed she was up to 10 lbs. She is in the 50 percentile for height and weight.

Big sister Sydney is a great help with Carly!

Smith School Jogathon

Smith School had a jogathon in order to raise money for school equipment and classroom computers. Sydney persuaded the grandparents to pledge and she ran 64 laps! She won an ice cream party for her class. Here are a few pictures of the event.

Sydney and her friend Chad proudly show their medals.
